Performing Arts Lofoten & Vesterålen (Scenekunst LOVE) was created in a time of a global pandemic, and a closed society. An entire world came to a standstill, and the performing arts sector was in practice shut down. The initiator behind Scenekunst LOVE is dancer and choreographer Thomas Voll, based in Hadsel in Vesterålen. The idea behind Scenekunst LOVE was to bring together the professional performing arts community in Lofoten and Vesterålen, to create unity, dialogue, and to promote performing arts in and from the region. Scenekunst LOVE has gradually grown to become a network consisting of more than 20 members, from Andøya in the north to Moskenesøya in the west.
We started on Instagram in 2021, then became present on Facebook shortly after, before we launched this website in the winter of 2022. We had our first physical meeting point in November 2022; Scenekunstprat. This event is organized twice in the spring, and twice in the autumn, and is open for our members. Our first meeting was organized in collaboration with Trevarefabrikken in Henningsvær, and has since been organized in collaboration with several cultural institutions in the region.
In addition to Scenekunstprat, we have established other meeting points, such as our digital Friday coffee on the first Friday of each month from 09:00-10:00 (on Zoom). The network is gradually growing, and today we have members who represents independent artists, organizations and cultural institutions.
Scenekunst LOVE was from the beginning a private initiative, and in May 2023 we became a separate unit organized as an association. The association was founded on 06/05/2023, and has its own board and a manager.
